EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is a powerful tool that utilizes cutting-edge research on how the brain stores and releases traumatic memories.  The EMDR process helps you to experience deep healing and let go of painful thoughts, feelings, dreams, and memories.  It goes beyond talk therapy, appearing to have a direct effect on the way the brain processes information.

During an EMDR session, the therapist works with the client on a specific problem that they have identified together.  As the client brings to mind the traumatic event or disturbing feeling, the therapist directs the client’s eye movements or otherwise stimulates the left and right brain, in order to release the pain surrounding the event of feeling and facilitate healing.
